Independence Day, Flea Market, Lake

We spent July 4th in Birmingham. We cooked out with friends and watched the New York City fireworks show on the t.v. William was actually still awake but he didn’t want to walk up the hill to see Birmingham’s fireworks show, Thunder on the Mountain. He had bitten his tongue earlier in the evening and it was still bleeding and I think I had freaked him out a little about it. Eventually I just put him to bed and he was fine when he got up the next morning.

Friday we packed up and headed to the Mac’s lakehouse. Saturday morning we got up bright and early and headed to the Santuk Flea Market. It’s the first Saturday every month during the summer and it is  FUN! You can buy just about anything there….peanuts, chickens, bras and underwear, movies, laundry detergent, tricycles, pigs, toys,  fried corn, turtles, rabbits, and they even had a few peacocks for sale this time. The best part is the people watching. My two precious children in their monogrammed and appliqued shirts stuck out like sore thumbs!

Here’s William sitting in the jogging stroller we bought a few summer’s ago at the flea market.

We came home with a tricycle, a ball that you sit on and bounce around, hair bows, an Auburn dress, and some movies-one of which will only play in French Smile We also came home completely soaked. It started pouring down rain and we had to walk about half a mile in the rain to our car.

For the most part it was a pretty rainy morning. We sat around and watched our new movies we had picked up at the flea market. Thankfully the sun came out after nap and we were able to get out and play some.
