It’s the simple things…

We have hundreds of toys around our house but William chose to play in the dog bowl most of the afternoon. Ryan had a new bag of food for Dora. She couldn’t have been more excited about a bag of fresh food, unfortunately neither could William. He spent about 30 minutes taking each piece of dog food and putting it in the empty container while Dora sat patiently waiting for her turn. He did offer her some but the container wasn’t big enough for Dora to stick her mouth in.

Don’t worry we didn’t let Dora starve. William gladly dumped the container all over the floor for her, saving a few in the bottle for himself. He insisted on taking it with him to the dinner table and even wanted to eat the dog food instead of the yummy spaghetti that I made!

House Guest

My sweet nephew, David, spent Friday night and all day Saturday with us this weekend. We would have loved to have him stay longer but I think his mommy and daddy missed him too much! William really enjoyed having his cousin around to play with. Getting both boys in the pictures was difficult so the pictures are not that great. That’s something I will have to improve on before baby #2 arrives.

Enjoying breakfast on Saturday morning….

Ryan and I got brave and took both boys to the Greek Food Festival. It was a little hot so we quickly ate our lunch and headed home to get the boys down for naps. The only pictures I took were in William’s room because it was the only place I had both boys contained but we did enjoy an afternoon outside before the rain moved in. We had a great wagon ride, had fun swinging, and enjoyed crawling around in the grass. It was a fun weekend but we were TIRED. We stayed in our pajamas today and enjoyed the rain!

Hello Fall!

Today is the first official day of fall…and the high today in Birmingham- 95 degrees!!! After a super fun Kindermusik class this morning William and I headed to the zoo dressed in our summer clothes :) Until now I have been able to avoid riding the train each time we visit the zoo, not that I do not enjoy it, but he has been happy enough to just wave as the “choo choo” passes by. But, in the last month or so William has really taken an interest in trains. I think we now are the owners of 5 different trains and he loves each one of them! All that to say that he REALLY enjoyed his train ride today!

We cannot wait until all the construction at the zoo is finished and we can actually spot some animals from the train!

We didn’t leave the zoo without visiting the barn, William’s favorite part. We must have spent 30 minutes waving and talking the sheep, goats, and the llama.

Piano Man

Double the Fun!

Our sweet friends Janet and Jared came to visit this weekend and brought along these two cutie pies, Carter and Coleman. I was so excited about their arrival. I got to pull out all the baby stuff (x2!!). It was a glimpse of what is to come once baby #2 arrives. We are definitely going to have to do some organizing. William’s stuff plus all the baby stuff pretty much takes over the house!

William really enjoyed having the boys here. He loved making them smile and sitting in their bouncy seats! I wish I had gotten a picture of all the boys together but William was busy playing in his new cars and cooking in the kitchen that Janet brought him. (I will post pictures soon!)

I really miss having Janet here in Birmingham but I am so excited that she is just 2 1/2 hours away now! It makes weekends like this much easier…especially with little ones! I am so excited about watching our boys grow up together.

I miss you guys already!

My new ride…

We have been talking for months now about getting William a little car to ride around on the driveway. I went to several consignment sales this week and found this cute car for $6!!! He LOVES it!!! He hasn’t figured out how to move his feet to make him go but he seems to love it anyway. He hops in, turns the wheel, honks the horn, gets out, walks around it, and then hops back in again.

What a great Sunday! We went to Sunday school, had a nice visit with our Papa and all took a nice long nap. We overslept and missed celebrating our friend Daniel’s birthday, but the weather was so beautiful we definitely could not stay inside so we hopped in the car and went to my family’s lake cabin for a few hours. Ryan was determined to catch just one fish but William had other plans that didn’t include fishing. He did find lots of treasures and enjoyed being outside in the beautiful weather.

Summer days driftin’ away…

I was in desperate need of some sun and sand so our family of three packed  up and headed to the beach. We found a great condo last minute in Seagrove that was RIGHT on the beach and one mile from Seaside…perfect!

Day 1: 7 am…on the beach and digging in the sand….a wonderful start to our day. It looks like it was not a very sunny day but no worries-the sun was still rising and we had absolutely beautiful weather.

William didn’t seem to mind the sand much at first. He wasn’t running around and burying himself in it or anything but he did enjoy digging and filling up the buckets.

By 8 am he was not so sure about the sand sticking to him and decided he was more comfortable sitting in the chair. So by 9:00 we were biking down to Seaside to get a little bite to eat and then it was back on the beach for the rest of the day!  We were so close to the beach the video monitor worked on the beach so we were able to enjoy a little beach time while William napped.

We did take a dip in the pool before heading in for the day. Then it was off to Bud & Alley’s for some delicious dinner and a little live music and frozen yogurt to end the night.

Day 2: After biking down to Seaside and an excellent breakfast at the Great Southern Cafe (if you haven’t tried it, you should), William took a snooze and we headed out to the beach. Today William would have NOTHING to do with the sand. We put him on the towel with a snack and he didn’t move.

100_5197 It would have been kind of nice but he was whining so after a long walk and a swim in the ocean we headed up to the pool for a quick dip before lunch and naptime.

100_5185 100_5188 100_5194

I came down the beach for SAND and sun so I was determined we were not going to spend our time at the pool and we didn’t. We headed back to the beach and William pretty much just dealt with the sand. He was okay down by the water so we parked it there for the rest of the afternoon.

This was the face William made most of the time he was near the sand or the ocean.

I LOVE these pictures. I HATE that I took them in front of the 30 feet of nasty, smelly green seaweed that was in front of our condo on Sunday. It was also full of sea slugs…so gross. The sand and water was absolutely beautiful to the left and the right but I guess I saw him smile while sitting in the sand so I captured the moment as quickly as I could.  100_5241

This weekend William starting telling us to “shhhh.” He must have picked it up at school on Friday because it’s not something we have ever really done at home. It’s pretty cute when he does it now but I guess telling your parents to “shhhh” is not a habit we really want to start.

Day 3: We woke up bright and early to a beautiful sunrise on the beach so at 6:15 I got William dressed and grabbed my camera.

This is the view from our patio and little yard that we had….breathtaking :)

After a beautiful sunrise on the beach we took one last spin on our bikes, ate a delicious breakfast, had a quick snooze on the bike ride home, and packed our bags and headed for Birmingham.
