Halloween

Whew! I am so glad October is over. It was an exhausting but fun month!

After a fun-filled morning at school, a nap (for the little ones), some pumpkin carving (and painting), and last minute decorating, we got all dressed up and set out for some trick-or-treating. Ryan headed out with the gnome and the train engineer while I stayed home and passed out candy. It was not long before they were back and helping me out. I think they enjoyed that more than the trick-or-treating. William and Virginia absolutely LOVED Halloween and CANDY and totally surprised me by wearing their entire costumes, hats and all, for the entire night until it was bathtime.

Halloween At School

Wednesday was a busy day. William got to wear his costume to school on Halloween and they had a Halloween Parade. My little train engineer was doing so good until he spotted me and both grandmothers sitting on the front row. He then sat and finished watching the rest of the parade with us.

After the parade he had his class party. He was a little unsure about all the grown ups that were attending the party but enjoyed all the yummy treats.

After William’s party I walked over to Virginia’s class to celebrate Halloween with them.

We then headed home to nap before getting all dressed up again to go trick-or-treating!

Another little artist in the house

William LOVES to paint and it’s no surprise that Virginia has decided that she also loves to paint.

Pumpkin Patch

I thought we were going to get through October without visiting the pumpkin patch but after hearing others talk about and reading about it in some of our books William asked when we were going to the pumpkin patch. So, the day before Halloween I woke the kids up early from their nap and told them we were headed to the pumpkin patch. Let’s just say I did not get the reaction I was hoping for. William threw an all out fit on his floor and did not want to go and Virginia just wanted to go back to sleep. Ryan had already left work and was meeting us and they were already up and the chances of them going back to sleep were slim so I dragged two sleepy, whiney kids out the door and we left. Once we were on the road they were fine and were very excited when we got on the hayride to go get a pumpkin. We went to the Grand Ole Pumpkin Patch in Cullman and at 3:30 on a Tuesday we were one of maybe 5 families there which was really nice. We rode the hayride, picked up a pumpkin,  rode a tractor train, played in the tee pees, and visited the petting zoo. We topped it all off with dinner at McDonalds.

Enjoying the fall weather

We have LOVED the beautiful weather we have been having. My kiddos absolutely love to be outside.

Even though I don’t love that shorter days are arriving it is fun to be able to take photos in the late afternoon light. William and Virginia are usually in bed or getting ready for bed at sunset during the summer months.

Happy Birthday Robbie and Dad!

Dad and Robbie share October as their birthday month so the weekend of their birthdays we had a little celebration with cake and cupcakes. Somehow this was the ONLY picture I took, sorry dad for leaving you out of your birthday post!
